question about leaking dipes

If my diapers need stripped, will they always have a funky smell?  Mine smell fine, but he is all of a sudden E is leaking out of every. single. one (especially at night). So I was reading other posts on here & figured they might be repelling & need stripped. We use BG 4.0 & the inserts are soaked when I take them out, but just right in front. They used to get soaked the whole way to the back of the insert & still wouldn't leak. 

So I guess what I'm asking is, does this just sound like they need stripped, or does it sound like I need different/more inserts for leak protection?
