Question about Priming Prefolds and Inserts

How do you prime your prefolds or your inserts?

The last time I bought some more unbleached chinese prefolds - I washed and dried them 5 times in hot water and then the hottest dry setting on my dryer. Is that overkill? Do I need to wash AND dry them 5 times?

I also just purchased some Hemp Babies Diaper Doublers & bumGenius
One-Size Inserts - do I prime them the same as the prefolds?
