Pink eye?

DS was sent home from Preschool today because his eye was very watering and kinda pink, plus he has some kind of cold sore on his lip... his teachers think he has pink eye!

We made a Dr appt for tomorrow, has anyone gone thru this before? Is pink eye a viral thing? Which would kind of connect his cold sore and eye watering together??

Any words of wisdom would help! I'm also wondering if the dr's visit will just be a waste because it's something that just needs to run it's course?? KWIM?
