measurements

I went to the MFM's office today for my weekly u/s and the MFM was not there just the techs. I laid down and she immediately said there was a heartbeat but then said she couldn't get any other measurements because LO was scrunched up. She tried and I was measuring 12 weeks which clearly freaked me out. So she let me leave the office and I was totally miffed because the whole point of going there is to make sure LO is growing. I immed called my regular OB because I started freaking out. She called me back a couple of hours ago and told me it's ok that at her office they don't measure after 13 weeks because of this issue. My question is if the whole point of going to the MFM is to make sure Lo is growing then how do they measure and why didn't the tech do it?
