STMs - getting rid of the pacifier (semi XP from july 11 and toddler board)

DH and I have decided it is time to take our son's pacifier away. DS is 20 months old and admittedly we have waited too long to take away his pacifier. He only has it at night in his crib but I have been resisting taking it away because he sleeps 14 hours per night. Any tips/tricks on getting rid of it? We plan to go cold turkey and not look back. Any advice is much appreciated, thanks!
