Early maternity leave?

I was planning on going on maternity leave at 36 weeks, which would be starting 7/8 but am feeling so darned tired still. I'm going to talk to my ob about this at my next appt but was wondering if anyone has gone through this before?

I'm a government employee whose agency doesn't pay into state disability. We do have a long term disability program that pays 67.7 percent of my base salary once I've been disabled for 60 days; for the first 60 calendar days I pay it completely on my own with sick, vacation, etc banks.

This sucks. I thought we were supposed to get this burst of energy in our 2nd trimesters. What gives?!
