1st Ultrasound

Today I had my 1st ultrasound! I'm 6 weeks and 1 day. All I could see was the Gestational sac, no embryo or heartbeat YET. The doctor says that's normal and I'm measuring on target so it's nothing to worry about. We also only did an abdominal ultrasound so maybe that's why we couldn't see anything ? Since its so early and so small?.. Of course I'm still worrying about it all though ! I went into early for my u/s because I've had these sharp pains on my left side, turns out its a Corpus Luteum Cyst. I guess what I'm trying to get at is, did anyone else have a early ultrasound, saw the sac but nothing else and later went in and saw baby and had a healthy pregnancy ?
