Cramping

Just wondering if some of you ladies who are experiencing it could shed some light for me.  This is my first pregnancy, so any insight I'd appreciate.

Tonight, and at least 2 other nights last week, I've had very intense cramps.  Like, worse than AF cramps, wake me up in the middle of the night.  They seem to be worse when I'm laying flat.  I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience. 

 Was just hit by them a few minutes ago, and DH doesn't understand.  But he decided to play Bill Cosby's gig on having a baby for me.  Lol.
