Heart beat

When we found out we were pregnant, we told just immediate family and a few close friends. We said we would wait to spill the beans until we heard/saw a heartbeat. I know the chance of miscarrying goes way down after the first trimester. In doing research, I am now seeing that some heartbeats can be heard or seen as little as 7 weeks. That still seems really early to tell everyone. Do chances of miscarriage also go way down after a heartbeat. I am struggling with when to tell now. My next ultrasound is scheduled for Nov. 19 and i'll be 7 weeks so it'll be a good chance we will get to see one. I know it's my choice, but what is everyone else planning to do? Spill after heart beat, or after 1st trimester?
