LO pulling on ear

This week my LO keeps grabbing, pulling, and even sticking his finger in his ear. Its always the same ear but doesn't seem to be accompanied by any acute distress. I'm going to call the pedi tomorow to see if I should bring him in to get it checked. Any of your LO's done anything like this?

I'm hoping he just discovered he has an ear and thinks its pretty darn exciting or something.
