The Dentist

Hi Ladies.  As always any input is much appreciated.  I am scheduled to see my dentist in a few weeks. I have been reading how important dental care is during pregnancy.  My spouse and I decided that we are going to wait to tell family and friends about being pregnant after the first trimester (unfortunately multiple family members have had miscarriages and we are both a little nervous about sharing).  Here is where I need your opinion.  My sister in law is my dental hygienist. I don't want to tell her yet and I know I will need x-rays.  Also, I cancelled my last appointment.  I am overdue for a cleaning.  Has anyone been to the dentist?  Do you have to tell them your pregnant?  Just debating about cancelling the appointment...again.  Thanks!!!!
