Placenta?

October 2012 in 1st Trimester

Ok, this may possibly be a dumb question. I was talking to my mom about my latest ultrasound and how I love that the placenta is heart shaped (I'll attach a picture) But then she got confused, not sure that it's the placenta that is heart shaped. So that made me question it. So is this the placenta around the baby that is making the heart shape? TIA!
