Transitioning to crib

Tonight is the night...and I'm worried it won't go well.  Sunday night, I woke to DS having broke free of his swaddle - and he had put the blanket over his face and was holding it there with his little hand!  Yikes!  So, we decided it's time to break the swaddle, since he breaks out of it every night anyways.  We left one arm out last night, but the boy is so big he kept whacking his hand on the side of his cradle and waking both him and me up. 

So, tonight we do the one arm swaddle and put him in his crib.  I'm super nervous, because I can't even get him to nap in his crib.  Everytime I put him down in it, no matter how deep asleep he is, he hits that crib matress and his eyes open as wide as dinner plates.  I'm afraid it's going to be a looong night.

 Any tips to make it easier from you mamas who have already done this transition?  Other than I should have already done it ?
