Ridge in Nails

OK, this might sound weird but my nails have this ridge in them that has been growing out. It's about half way down the nail bed now. I can see it and feel it.... I think it's the difference in hormones and I can see the different nail "material" growing. Does that make sense? Kind of how our hair changes when pregnant our nails do to, so this is the "pregnant" nails growing out. When the ridge is gone will these new nails be weaker? Thinner? It's just so weird that I can see it. Anyone else?
