Question for dog owners

Do you give your dog anything to help his or her coat? I've heard of giving them an egg once a week but I'm worried that it will give her the runs.

I think our German Shepherd mix has allergies. She's getting a bald spot and she's constantly picking at her belly. I have an appointment for next week. Just wondering if anyone uses home remedies as a preventative.
