Did thickening the formula help your LO's spitting up?

The pediatrician told me that I could "try it" but that he didn't really know if it helped or not. I haven't tried it yet because the doctor didn't seem really encouraging about it and I didn't want to overfeed my baby. However, my LO's spitting up seems to be getting worse with time versus better. And the other things like keeping him upright have not made a difference. He spits up sometimes while still trying to drink his bottle!
