Pacifier

My DS currently uses a wubbanub soothie and loves it, however I am not sure if I should try to switch him to a regular pacifier. I tried to give him a regular one today and he would take it for a short time and spit it out. When he got really tired he kept spitting it out but when I gave him the wubbanub he fell right to sleep. Should I try to transition him to the regular pacifier or does it not matter? I didn't know how long they can or should use the soothie wubbanub. TIA!
