your thoughts & advice please

Our LO will be my mom's 1st and possibly only grandchild and she lives a 2hr plane ride away. I absolutely want her here for the birth of our little guy but I'm having a tough time deciding when she should come. I would like to have the last days before LO arrives to just be DH and me. So when should we book my mom's ticket to come up? I worry that she won't be able to get here in time. Our thought was to book a south.west anytime ticket (you can change flight dates without a charge) and as long as there's a flight out and room on the plane she'd be on her way when I can to say I'm labor, water broke, or whatever. But I worry about all those what ifs and don't want her to miss this exciting time in her life as well because I'm possibly being selfish. However, I also don't want her sitting around with me waiting for me to go into labor. Any thoughts or advice gals? What do you plan to do if  you are in a similar situation or what would you do?
