Bleeding and freaking out just a bit

This is my second pregnancy. I am 56 weeks and this morning I started bleeding. Seems to be more than spotting as I had to put a pad on and its not just when I wipe. I never bled with my first so im kind of freaking out. I also have light cramping. I called the early pregnancy unit and have a scan tomorrow but I am really worried I am miscarrying!! Anyone else ever experience this ?
