Symptoms Worse with 2nd Baby?

With DD I hardly had any pregnancy symptoms.  Just some mild nausea and a little more tired than usual.  With this baby I have major nausea almost 24/7, fatigue, splitting headaches, plus weird aches and pains.  Is it common for symptoms to be rougher the second time around?  I thought your first baby was supposed to be the hardest and just assumed I'd gotten off easy...though the first time around it was just me and DH and I had a boring desk job so I could basically take it easy all day
