Dumb question, but I'm going to ask anyway...

I'm short. So to see myself clearly in the bathroom mirror that is above our sink I have to press up against the counter and lean over it. Because my belly is getting in the way the edge of the counter tends to cut me off in the middle of my lower abdomen. Tonight it hurt when I stood back up straight and I was out of breath. Is that normal? Like I said, I know it's a dumb question, so I won't take it personally if anyone makes fun of me for asking.
