Anyone just see an empty sac at 6 weeks then go on to see heartbeat at a later visit?

Just curious. I know it's possible,for it to show up later but more common to see it at 6 weeks. I have an empty sac at 6weeks and the doctor wants to check me in a couple of weeks, but thinks I might be headed for a miscarriage. No cramps or bleeding though. Not yet at least.
