keeping the gender a secret

My fiance and I have agreed to keep the gender a secret until the shower.. we will have the ultrasound tech put it in a envelope, then we are giving it to a baker to make a gender cake (blue or pink inside). i know that his mom really wants to know but i really want everyone to find out together.... i also dont want the whole family finding out and then showering us with all pink or blue (im more of the neutral type). any ideas for a nice way to explain that no one will know until the shower? we wont even know before then, i really want it to be a suprise i would wait until the birth to find out but he wanted to know and this is the compromise.
