Maternity Leave

I just talked to my Benefits Dept and Im gutted that what I *thought* my maternity leave would be, isnt nearly as much as I had hoped. I think my hormones are getting the best of me because I could just cry. Lame, I know. I think I need some perspective...

Once I give birth Im entitled to 6 weeks at 100% pay, then an additional 12 weeks unpaid (18 weeks total). Apparently if I was a higher-level employee Id get 12 weeks at 100% pay (this is what I think is getting me so upset since I *should* be in that classification but Im 'too young' (no one has said that, but I know its a main reason)).

Anyways, what is the situation with all you ladies? Like I said, I need some perspective.
