Getting start on getting ready!

Now that we know the gender, we're moving on to getting ready for the baby.  We've waited to buy anything until we knew.  

I, for one, am feeling totally overwhelmed about where to start.  DH is taking more of the "it'll all fall into place" attitude.

I've seen lists of commonly needed items or checklists rather like the ones used for wedding registeries.  Are these useful to help purchase items?
