Truth about cat litter while pregnant

My mom has left for out of town until next wednesday & her house is on my way home from work. She has 3 cats (2 litter boxes) that need to be changed everyday. She left me a mask & gloves (i hope) for me to use or my shirt over my nose would work too but what about cat litter that is harmful? I'm almost 27wks, is it "smelling the litter" that is harmful & I wouldn't think if touching the skin has anything to do with it for I'll be washing good afterwards. TIA
