How much rest after an IVF?

DH and I will more than likely be doing IVF with ICSI in July and I was wondering after the transfer, how much rest did you have at home? I spoke to a friend of a friend and she advised me that I need to lay flat on my back for five days. Now I have an 18 month old which we conceived naturally so to do that is tough. If it makes any difference I am 40 and have never had a miscarriage.
