Tell me about Braxton Hicks

Such as....when did you start feeling them, how would you describe them, what do they feel like, etc.  I swear I'm going to be one of those people that doesn't have a clue.  The last few days I've been getting these random sharp pains but they go away pretty quickly.  I couldn't tell if my stomach was getting harder because I was having stomach issues from ahem, not going for a while.  I get gas pains a lot which make my stomach hard anyway from a mild form of IBS.  

Any insight would be great!
