I had my first appointment today. Basically just to confirm pregnancy. Because I am over 35, I will be monitored a little more closely.
I am curious...how many of you will be consenting to AFP, triple/quad/penta screening? Because we have some genetic abnormalities in our extended family (Down Syndrome and mitochondrial disorder) I understand the value of this testing. But I chose not to do it with my first pregnancy 5 years ago because I wouldn't have terminated even if we'd found a problem. I think I will probably do the same this time. Too many false positives and I'm a worrier already by nature.
What are your thoughts?
