ladies who use pregnancy pillows

i really, really don't want to spend $50 on a pregnancy pillow that is a strange size and i can't imagine using PP. but last night i kept waking up while sleeping on my side b/c my back was killing me

soooo, some questions for those of you who use one:

1. how far along were you when you bought one?

2. did it help?

3. what brand did you buy?

4. can you think of an alternative use PP?
