What to look for in a washer/dryer?

Hey ladies.  I would love your input on washer/dryers.  We are in the market for a new pair and since I plan to CD I thought I would ask here if there is anything particular I should look for?

While I've heard front loaders aren't the best with CD, I still would like to get one.  We've been eyeballing the Whirlpool Duet, but our minds are still open to others.

And what about steam?  H seems to think it is a necessity with diapers (funny since he'll probably never wash  load)   Too me it just seems like maybe a gimmick.
