maybe a dumb question but...

for washing CD I see that some websites say to do a cold rinse in the washer first.

What im wondering is... does this mean throwing everything in the washer and just doing a normal wash with cold water/cold rinse or is there a way to just do a cold rinse on the washer. i know dumb question. but im clueless 

then im going to do the normal hot wash with maybe an extra rinse. i will see if there is any suds and if the extra rinse is needed. 

im new to all of this. thanks for all of your help. this should be it for my crazy questions now. =]
