Green Mountain Diaper Pre-Folds - Why are they "better"?

It seems the GMD are preferred over other prefold brands.

 Just wondering why?    I have no experience with any brand, so just asking a question.

I'm still researching and haven't bought anything yet, but know that I want to try prefolds and covers for the preemie (possible with twins) / newborn phase.

Wondering if some of the cheaper brands are just as good.  Just looking to save as much as I can with twins on the way, but dont want to buy items that won't work as well.  I'm sure my time is going to be limited and want items that "work" at the best price.
