Slight odor

I think some of my diapers have a slight odor to them.  Sometimes I catch a whiff and it smells faintly of a dirty diaper (I don't really know how to describe the smell--I never really smell "poop" when I change his diaper, it just hasn't a different odor to it).  I wash the diapers every other day or so so a dirty diaper isn't really sitting in the pail for that long (and my DS does not poop every day so there is rarely more than one dirty diaper in the pail at a time).  So, what can I do to get rid of the stink?  TIA
