New to CD and have a few questions...

We are currently using a cloth diaper service where she provides the covers for newborns but you are on your own after that for covers. We have ordered a few Thirstie Duo covers per a recommendation from a friend. We have now decided we want to buy some inserts and start to clean the diapers at home and cancel the service. Do the Thirstie inserts work better than the standard cloth inserts? Where is the best place to buy the inserts online? Is there anything else I will need to CD at home? I read something about a sprayer and special detergent for washing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
